About Us

Humble Beginnings

Starting out in a basement in Pittsburgh, PA, owner and head brewer Mike Franzone turned his enjoyment of drinking and talking about beer into a daily passion of creating new brews for everyone to enjoy.

Rheinheitsgebot and Beyond

The Bavarian law of 1516 is great, so we use it as the basis of all the beers we make. We are not afraid to experiment with other grains, flavors, and ingredients to bring unique and tasty brews to you!

Rugby at Lineout

Mike played Rugby with the Pittsburgh Forge in PA and they had their own pub - Ruggers - to visit after every game and whenever the club wanted to socialize. Rugby games from all over the world were always on TV and they will always be at least one screen with a game on here. Unfamiliar with the sport? Come on down and learn about it! Also a Rugger? Starting Lineup

We focus on traditional German brews, but love all styles. We provide samples for everything, but do not offer flights - we want you to be friends with all of our beer, not just acquaintances!

2nd Row - IPA

Bold flavors of pine, floral hops and enough IBU's to hold up a Maul or Scrum.

Prop - Stout

Heavy and rich flavor of coffee, chocolate, and tobacco - good for bashing heads or scoring tries.

Flyhalf - Hefeweizen

The prettiest of the bunch - at least to itself - Traditional German Wheat beer with plenty of banana and clove on the nose and a warm and pleasant taste throughout.

Flanker - Pils

Versatile and agile - just like its namesake - this is a clean and crisp brew with just enough bitterness to remember it used to play in the backline.
